covid-19 background

Coronaviruses have been with us, but the only time there had been a concern was during the MERS and SARS outbreak. After a while, the diseases disappeared, and no one has heard about them since. Coronaviruses, however, called the world’s attention again when the novel Covid-19 broke out in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. After a few months, the virus had spread across the globe, leaving millions hospitalized, and hundreds of thousands dead. .

Covid-19 symptoms

Persons infected with Covid-19 experience a myriad of symptoms, the most common of them being fatigue, general weakness, fever, and dry cough. The most exciting thing about the symptoms is that they vary in different people. While some may experience mild signs, in others, the symptoms re more serious, leading to hospitalization.

Other Covid-19 patients experience diarrhea, nasal congestion, headaches, and running nose on top of the symptoms mentioned above. Patients may also experience only one of the mentioned symptoms, while some infected persons will not experience any symptoms at all.  In most cases, the symptoms are mild and only become intense much later after infection.

Mode of spread

Like other coronaviruses that have been there before, this strain is mostly spread through close contact with an infected person. You can contract Covid-19 if you are about 6 feet close to a person who is already infected with the virus. This is particularly the most common mode of transmission. Respiratory droplets from an infected individual can also lead to infection. These droplets can be transferred through talking, sneezing, or coughing. The virus can also be spread through surfaces. Note that the virus has different lifespans on different surfaces. If you touch an object or a surface with the virus, you can get infected if you touch your eyes, nose, or month after contact with the object.

Treatment

Doctors, scientists, and researchers have been working day and night to find a cure or vaccine for Covid-19. Unfortunately, they have not had much luck finding something that can stop the virus once and for all.

However, many people have recovered from the virus through supportive care. There is no specific treatment for Covid-19, but patients are being treated for the particular symptoms they are experiencing.

Prevention

WHO, CDC, and other relevant agencies involved in the fight against Covid-19 have sensitized the importance of embracing preventive measures to fight the disease since there is no cure.Maintaining social distance is among the most critical preventive measures to take at this point. This entails avoiding crowded places and avoiding public transportation and gatherings.

Wearing a face mask while in public places also protects other people and yourself from getting infected. Cleaning and disinfecting high contact surfaces such as doorknobs, rails, counters, and elevators is also a preventive measure.Individuals are encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly, regularly, and sanitizing to prevent the transfer of the virus.

Covid-19 has an incubation period of 14 days, during which the virus can still be spread from person to person, or through surfaces.

The Most Comprehensive Corporate Testing Program

We need to get everyone back to work and revive the global economy. That will happen only if we launch a sensible and efficient Global effort to test –and retest — Worldwide for COVID-19 with the right tools. At the epicenter of this pandemic are our frontline healthcare professionals; doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and medical technicians.

This must be a global testing effort. If we want to restart the global economy, with trade, commerce, air cargo and travel, we must collaborate with countries around the world. That includes the developing world, where providing help was once mainly a moral imperative.

Deaths from COVID-19 appear to be declining around the world, but people still are dying, and the brightest path ahead still is not assured. Many health experts say that even a limited reopening of the nation could result in a second wave of cases, however small. After another flare-up, for instance, China had to lock down 600,000 people in Henan Province in early April. Some projections indicate that 45-65% of Americans may eventually contract COVID-19.

If you develop any of these for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face

Symptoms that may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

Treatment

t’s as simple as a test for pregnancy or blood glucose.First, prick a finger for a few drops of blood. Then, add reagent to blood in a tiny well and mix.

Finally, add strips and see if the patient tests positive or negative.  If only one line appears, the test is negative. If more than one line appears, the test is positive.

Testing Basics

A Covid Rapid Test is a serology test that looks for antibodies the human body produces when it is fighting COVID-19. It requires a finger prick and a few drops of blood, which are mixed with a reagent and tested with a special paper strip.

After 15 minutes, red lines will indicate the result.

Covid Rapid has three important uses in the fight against COVID-19:

1. Covid Rapid antibody tests can be used in the early stages of the epidemic. Factories, businesses, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, and shelters can use our antibody test to screen all of their populations–not just those with symptoms–in order to screen for up to 60% of people who are both asymptomatic and possibly infected.

Additional Information

This test has been authorized only for the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, not for any other viruses or pathogens.

This test is only authorized for the duration of the decleration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use of in vitro diagnostics for detection and/or diagnosis of COVID-19 under Section 564(b) (1) of the Act, 21 U.S.C. $360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner.
